Kristopher J. Zahrobsky is from the Pathway to Adventure Council and is currently serving as the National Venturing Advisor and National Venturing Committee Vice-Chair.
Kris is lifetime member of the BSA. He started as a youth Tiger Cub and completed his youth tenure serving as the Central Region Venturing President from 2000-2001. Kris is an Arrow of Light Recipient, Eagle Scout, Exploring Gold Award Recipient, Venturing Silver Award Recipient, James E. West Fellow, and Vigil Honor member of the Order of the Arrow. He has also received the Council, Region, and National Venturing Leadership Awards, the Training and Advisor’s Key Awards, the Philmont Training Center Master Track Knot, and the Silver Antelope Award.
Prior to his current appointment, Kris served in Area, Regional, and National roles since 2001. He has previously served as Central Region Venturing Chair and Advisor, Central Region Area 7 Venturing Chair and Advisor, and the Chair of the National Venturing Program Development Task Force, among additional committee roles outside of Venturing.
Outside of Scouting, Kris enjoys traveling, exploring great food, bowling, softball, and haunted houses. He lives in the Chicago area.
Owen began his Scouting career in 1993 as an Exploring Executive in the Cascade Pacific Council in Portland, OR, where he grew up as a Scout. He was promoted to Senior Exploring Executive, and then to Senior District Executive in the same council. He then accepted a position in the Longs Peak Council, serving as District Director in Boulder County, CO; after this he served as the Director of Operations (Director of Program) at the Florida National High Adventure Sea Base. This position led him to the North Florida Council, where he served as the Chief Operations Officer (Director of Field Service). His next position in Scouting was to serve as the Associate Director for Program - Seasonal Personnel and Base Camp Operations at Philmont, and then most recently his talents led him to the National Service Center to serve as a Corporate Partnerships Manager over Properties and Program.
Owen is an Eagle Scout from Portland, Oregon, and a member of the Order of the Arrow. He is an active unit leader in a pack, troop, and crew, and is an instructor for multiple BSA activities. He also is a competitive musician (bagpipes). Owen and his wife, Julia, have three children; two daughters are in Circle Ten Council’s Venturing Crew 425, and a son in Longhorn Council’s Troop 328.
A product of the Venturing program in the Baltimore Area Council, Robbie has been involved in the Scouting program for over 20 years. He has served in positions ranging from the Unit to the National level, with the majority of his time focused on training. Robbie has attended, staffed, and directed numerous training courses, such as: Wood Badge, Powder Horn, National Camping School, NAYLE, Sea Badge, and conferences at both Florida Sea Base and Philmont Training Center.
Nationally, Robbie currently serves as the National Venturing Training Chair and is a member of the ScoutingU Board of Regents, PTC Conference Committee, and the Youth Protection Committee. Throughout this next year, he looks forward to supporting and serving youth throughout the Northeast Region as we ring in the 20th anniversary of Venturing.
Robbie is an Eagle Scout and Silver Award recipient. Some other personal awards include the Regional and Council Venturing Leadership Award, Philmont Master Trek Award, Silver Beaver, Vigil Honor, and the Order of the Arrow Founders Award.
Professionally Robbie is an Organizational Development & Leadership Training Program Manager for the state government and a Marine Corps Veteran.
Jeff Geralds is the Central Region Venturing Advisor. Prior to this, Jeff spent nearly 10 years as the Area 2 Venturing Advisor, helping leading Venturing in the state of Michigan.
Jeff Geralds is from the Great Lakes FSC of the Michigan Crossroads Council. He has been with Crew 1589 since its founding in 2000. Jeff has served as the Crew Advisor and as its Charter Organization Representative. His favorite memory from Venturing is his Crew's Cavalcade Trek at Philmont.
Through his participation with his council’s Venturing Officers Association he has earned the Council Venturing Leadership Award, and has received the Region Venturing Leadership Award. He has been an Assistant Course Director for two Powder Horn courses, and has served as a Wood Badge Assistant Course Director. Jeff has also been a member of several National Venturing Committee task forces. He fondly recalls his experience as a Crew Advisor at the 2013 National Jamboree, and looks forward to returning in 2017.
Jeff is an Eagle Scout, and has 50 years of continuous membership in Scouting, including two years as the VP of Program for the Great Lakes Council Executive Committee. He has served in many capacities, earning him the District Award of Merit, Silver Beaver, Silver Antelope and the Order of the Arrow’s Vigil Honor and Founder’s Award.
Jeff is a securities registered financial advisor and chief compliance officer in the financial services field. He earned his BA in Economics and Urban Studies at Wayne State University in Detroit, MI. He and his wife Sheryl have two grown children who were both active in Venturing.
Jennifer L. Hancock is the current Chairman of the Southern Region Venturing Committee and Regional Advisor to the Southern Region Venturing Officers Association. Mrs. Hancock is a devoted Scouter from the South Plains Council in Lubbock, TX. She is a practicing international and family law and human rights attorney with a Juris Doctor from Texas A&M University School of Law.
Before assuming the chairmanship and becoming the Regional Advisor she had served Scouting in countless other ways. Mrs. Hancock has served the youth of our program as a Venturing Crew Advisor, a member of her local councils executive board, an International Representative, and as an Associate Area Advisor. She also currently serves on the BSA International Committee.
For her service to youth she has been recognized with the Silver Beaver Award, the Silver Antelope Award, the International Scouters Award, the Region Venturing Leadership Award, and the Silver Fox awarded by Scouts Canada.
As someone who believes that youth learn best from new experiences, she considers herself privileged to have lead local and international youth groups to some of the most amazing Scouting venues in the world. She has lead crews to Germany and the United Kingdom, and to events in Costa Rica and at Kandersteg International Scout Centre in Switzerland, just to name a few.
She has a true devotion to not only Scouting, but to the development of youth, and to the betterment of the world through them.
With over 45 years of scouting service, David, (an Eagle Scout) has had the opportunity to serve youth and adults in numerous assignments and responsibilities. Some of these assignments have been: Scoutmaster, Post/Crew Advisor, District Boy Scout Commissioner, Roundtable Commissioner, District Venturing Chair, Council Executive Board Member, Assistant Council Commissioner, Western Region Area 2 Venturing Committee Chair, Western Region Venturing Task Force Chair, National Venturing Task Force Member, Western Region Area Two Youth Protection Training Champion, as well as a member of the National Venturing Committee, and the Philmont LDS Chaplain (for 13 years).
David has been actively involved in Venturing since its inception back in the late ’90 s. He is the recipient of the Venturing Leadership Award (Council, Area, Region, & National), James E. West Fellowship, Silver Beaver, Scouter’s Training Award, District Award of Merit, Scoutmaster’s Key, Distinguished Commissioner Service, International Scouter, Catholic Church’s Saint George Award, LDS Duty to God Religious Award, and is an Order of the Arrow Member. David is dedicated to working on strengthening the bridges and removing the walls that happen to occur at any time in Venturing.
When asked what one Scouting experience he was most proud of, it was having his whole family involved in Scouting, his daughters in Exploring & Venturing as well as his son receiving the rank of Eagle Scout.
David and his wife, Charlene, have a six children and a “grundle” (i.e. a lot) of grandchildren. He is the Executive Director of the Utah Energy Conservation Coalition, a state of Utah non-profit organization specializing in residential energy efficiency and building codes.
He is an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He has been a member of the Provo Elks Lodge, Orem City Community Development Block Grant Committee, and the Orem City Board of Adjustments. He has also recently been elected to serve as one of the National Directors for the Philmont Staff Association of the BSA Philmont Scout Ranch. He currently lives in Orem, UT where (in whatever spare time he may have) he constantly re-landscapes his yard while growing orchids for relaxation!
